Through a thorough history and physical examination, we will determine the underlying cause of your pet’s symptoms. Internal medicine encompasses systemic diseases such as:

  • Cardiac, liver, and kidney disease
  • Cancer
Most internal medicine cases require the performance of diagnostic tests to help us to determine your pet’s health problems. At Smalley's Animal Hospital, We provide a wide range of in-house diagnostics, including routine blood work (CBC and Chemistry Profile), urinalysis, digital radiology, and ultrasonography. We also send out specialty diagnostics to our affiliated universities and diagnostic laboratories for more extensive testing.

Our in-house pharmacy contains many of the pharmaceuticals needed for treatment of a large proportion of pet diseases. We utilize local and specialty / compounding pharmacies when needed.

Oral disease is one of the most common health problems diagnosed in pets. We perform dental / oral examination on your pet annually as part of their physical exam and will discuss the need for dental care on a case-by-case basis.
